Direct contact membrane distillation: A sensitivity analysis and an outlook on membrane effective thermal conductivity

A rigorous and high-fidelity two-dimensional numerical model for a direct contact membrane distillation (DCMD) module has been developed. The developed incorporates all the key physics governing transport phenomena taking place within (MD) module. spatial variation of physical properties fluids flowing in channels with temperature captured. used to investigate sensitivity performance indicators or KPIs (i.e. transmembrane flux, thermal efficiency polarisation coefficient) ten operational conditions characteristics. models estimate effective conductivity membranes have discussed it was shown that more appropriate are required accurately latter parameter and, this end, new proposed.
